A Message from the Illustrious Overseer for the Orient of Indiana

Greetings from the officers and members of the Great Orient of Indiana, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Prince Hall Affiliated.

The objective of this site is to provide information to the Indiana Scottish Rite family and other Jurisdictions about the numerous charitable, fraternal and social events occurring within our Orient.

Dear Fraters,

I greet you with fraternal warmth and affection.

We are all aware that Strong lodges are the wellspring from which great Consistories are built. Our hallmarks will be Masonic education, ritualistic excellence, community service, and philanthropy. A Frater’s future will not be determined by friendships, titles, or excuses—it will be determined by his work.  This Orient will shape leaders, not followers; critical thinkers, not the gullible; men of self-control, not those swayed by emotion. We will build an Orient from Master Masons who embody the highest standards of character and integrity. Together, we will make Indiana the premier Orient within the Northern Jurisdiction.

To reinforce this vision, I am introducing a distinctive motivational call sign for the Orient of Indiana.  As the Overseer, when I proclaim *“Indiana Wings Up,” I want the Fraters of Indiana to respond with one voice, “Flying High!” This will be our rallying cry — a reminder of who we are, what we stand for, and how high we are destined to soar.

“Wings Up, Flying High” is a call to elevate ourselves beyond mediocrity.  Wings up means being prepared, focused, and ready for flight — symbolizing our discipline and unity as Fraters. Flying high represents excellence, vision, and achievement as we carry the values of integrity, leadership, and service into every part of our lives. Together, it means we rise above excuses and soar toward greatness as an Orient and as Masons.

We will let our light shine brightly, serving as a beacon for others to emulate. As we step into this new and promising future, I pray for God’s continued providence upon each of you and upon the great state of Indiana.

Lastly, I have had the opportunity to glean from the leadership of three Deputies for the Orient of Indiana, Robert Thomas, Joseph Slay Jr. and Carl L. Drummer (now our Lt. Grand Commander, congratulations). I want to publicly thank each of them for their commitment to Scottish Rite.

Yours in the Rite,
Wings Up, Flying High,

SGIG Dr. Eugene Anderson, Jr., 33°
